Editing, Proofreading, and Creative Coaching For Authors and Screenwriters

From first outline to query-ready final draft, I guide authors through the process of shaping, structuring, refining, and polishing their work.

Formatting, story structure, dialogue, character—there's a lot to track with a screenplay.

I bring a fresh eye and an industry-insider perspective to the page—whether it's your first script or your 50th.

Stuck brainstorming an essay? Need a final review to make sure everything is flawless? I ensure you feel confident that you're putting your best self forward in your applications.

How It Works

1

Try Before you buy

I offer free editing samples (1000 words of a manuscript or 3 pages of a screenplay) or a free 20-minute consultation call.

Send me a message with some details on your project and what you're looking for, and we can chat about next steps.

2

a Custom Approach

Maybe you're looking for thorough, detailed notes discussing craft and technique; maybe you just want clear, actionable edits.

My approach is tailored to the feedback style that works best for you, at the level you need.

3

 Creative coaching

Have you always thought about writing a book, but can't figure out where to start? Or maybe you've got a few screenplays drafted and wish you could take your dialogue to the next level?

I offer personalised, ongoing coaching calls to develop your understanding of story and craft.

Editing Options

1

Development Edits

You have a rough first draft (or maybe just a detailed outline!), but aren’t sure where to go next.

I help flesh out the structure and ideas, stress-testing the storyline and characters to ensure continuity and flow. I'll suggest major cuts, shuffling, or additions to help you realize your vision.

2

Line Edits

You have a complete draft, but need detailed feedback and a sharp eye for consistency, tone, flow, and structure.

I provide all of the above, offering feedback and corrections on a paragraph level while ensuring that your voice remains unique and your ideas uncompromised.

3

Proofreading

You have a finished draft and want to be confident that each sentence is polished, flowing, and absolutely flawless.

I dig into the nitty-gritty details of grammar, word choice, sentence structure, and formatting to ensure every line is perfect.

"I highly recommend working with George. I first hired her as an editor for a creative project I had been struggling with for months. Her sharp eye, talent, and professionalism allowed me to complete that project well beyond the standard I could have achieved independently, and I have since hired her to edit a variety of projects from cover letters to long-form fiction. I have worked in the literary field for a decade, and George’s ability continues to stand out. She'll be my first choice the next time I need an editor."

About Me

I'm George. I've been a freelance story consultant, writing coach, and manuscript editor for more than a decade, coaching clients through the process that turns ideas into rough drafts and rough drafts into polished final work. My priority is always to help writers develop their craft and hone their stories without losing their unique style and voice.

I've worked across a wide variety of projects, including screenplays, memoirs, short and long-form fiction, poetry collections, personal essays, and graduate school applications. My clients have gone on to publish books in the top 50 bestsellers on Amazon, receive options from major production companies, win industry awards, and earn acceptance to leading MA and PhD programs across the US and UK, including Yale, UC Berkeley, Oxford, Columbia, Cambridge, and USC.

I hold dual BAs in Art History and English Literature (Creative Writing emphasis) from Scripps College (2017), matriculated in the Creative Writing MSt at Oxford University (2019), and earned a Screenwriting MA at MetFilm London (2022), where I was awarded a Distinction for my dissertation, a pilot titled The Summer My Sister Returned.

My scripts have placed or been finalists in the ScreenCraft Script competition, TSL Free Screenplay competition, and the Austin Film Festival Screenwriting Competition, as well as ranking in the top 10% of scripts on Coverfly in 2023, and three of my features have been optioned. My prose writing has been published in The White Whale Review, Five, and Passwords: A Literary Magazine, and I'm a contributing writer for the Circle & Arc literary series. Since 2021, I've delivered guest lectures in screenwriting at The Waterford School.

I live in London, where I enjoy performing improv comedy, ice skating, weightlifting, going to the cinema, writing about films, and volunteering at my local library.
